Welcome Home

We returned from sunny Southern California on Saturday to 10 degree temperatures and an impending snow storm Sunday night and Monday (they were right about the snow storm -it's here).

Our trip "home" was excellent. It was actually exactly what I was hoping it would be. Timmy did really well (as well as can be expected for 2.5 year old) on the flights. He hung in there like a trooper!

We got to spend a lot of time with my brother and his family. Timmy played with his cousins and has a special affection for his 3.5 year old cousin Sierra - they were like two peas in a pod when they were together - it was really nice to see.

We celebrated Thanksgiving on Friday with our extended family. My Mom hosted and tried a whole slew of new things - like brining the turkey and cooking it on some couter-top cooker - nither of which she will do again. The flavor was great, but the trouble with brining is that the gravy (which I made) is really salty! She aslo added cinnamon and nutmeg to the cranberry sauce. I commented on it, and later she decided she would go back to the old fashioned cranberry sauce next time around. I think we had 21 people there - it was great and something I look forward to each year. Next year, we will be there for Christmas and will have 5 more people if my cousin and his family from North Carolina are able to make it (I really hope to see them).

Timmy got sick on Saturday and Sunday. The poor little guy had a high fever. We took him to urgent care on Sunday. $50 co-pay later I learned nothing more than his ear was a little red, so it could lead to an ear infection. I gave him one does of antibiotics, then called it quits. Who wants a potty training toddler with the runs at Disneyland???? Not me! Wednesday Timmy had an allergic reaction to something - hives all over his body - arghhh! We gave him benadryl and out he went.

We went to Disneyland on Monday and Tuesday - what a fabulous trip that was. I will say, however, that Timmy is still a little bit too young to really enjoy it all. He had a good time, but couldn't appreciate it all. He rode a small roller coaster in toon town, then braved a bigger one - which scared the crap out of him. His favorite ride was Winnie the Pooh, which we rode 3 times in a row!

The rest of the trip was filled with family and friend visits, resting, eating and naps. It was great. As with all vacations, however, I am glad to be home. Not glad, mind you , for the welcome wagon in the form of lots of snow and super cold temps!

Sounds like you guys had a great time! It must have been awful to leave California and come home to the crappy Northeast weather though! It's cold here too, but not that cold so we've just had rain. And wind.

Ugh. Ear trouble. We've had enough of that lately! Hope Timmy's ear clears up.

Glad everything went well - relatively speaking, at least! :o)
