The Week That Was

Last week flew by. Before I realized it, Sunday came along. I love Sundays; they are a day for families.

I spent my week doing many things. I started my week on a very low note. I realized that I didn't like the way Little Man was behaving nor did I like the way I was responding to him. Pretty sure there was a mental post about him driving me nuts. The night I wrote that, during a middle-of-the-night feeding, I prayed. I prayed that the good Lord would wrap His Holy Spirit around my heart and soften it when dealing with Little Man. I asked that He give me the perspective I needed to understand what Little Man is going through.

My prayers were answered. I was a much kinder, softer and gentler Mommy and Little Man was more responsive, well behaved and likable. We had an excellent week together. For me, this begs the question...why didn't I seek the spiritual help I needed sooner? Often times, I find it takes a really low point for me to seek help from God. In this situation, I heard myself talking to Little Man like an outsider would hear me. It wasn't pretty.

Little Man spent the week being snuggly and wanting to be where I was and where Princess was. Every time I put her on the floor, he was right there with her.

It was a big week for the Princess too. She got a bottle for the first time from Daddy (which meant I had to pump, but that's another issue). Once she figured out something was coming from that rubber nipple, she took to it like a champ. I am a firm believer in starting breast fed babies on bottles during their 4th week. I know too many moms that don't and have a hard time when they need to return to work or even leave the house without the baby for a few hours.

In addition to the bottle, she had her first responsive smile. I was singing Skip to My Lou to her and it just popped right up. She followed it with others. Unfortunately, I am the only one around when this happens, so the picture I took is not the best picture, but you get the idea. I'm sure I am biased, but it happens to be one the my favorite smiles ever.

In addition to all of that, we found time to go bowling, go to the recreation center for toddler play time 2 days, go to the library for story time and go for walks each day. It was a good week. It took some time to get into the swing of things, but I think I made a successful week of it.

Tomorrow will start a new week. I hope I can have the same kind of week I had this week.

My gosh she's a beauty!

We have one of those rain forest play gyms.. What a lifesaver! Mine still love it for the lights and sounds even though they're both too big for it. My cousin is pregnant and I've already told her it's a definite must have!
