Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

Does Absence make the heart grow fonder?
Yesterday Todd and I went to Boston to pick up my brother-in-law at the airport. Because it was a long journey, we decided to make a day of it. We dropped Timmy off at Grammy and Grandpa's house at 11:00am. In true airline fashion, there were flight delays, so we didn't get home until long after Timmy had been in bed. He has been sick, so I gave him a breathing treatment around 11:00pm, but he was completely out of it. I also gave him a treatment at 6:00am, but again he was out of it. He woke for the day at 7:00am, and was all about Mommy. He didn't want to let me go. He wanted all the hugs he could get. He kept saying "more hugs mama, more," and would pull me towards him any time I tried to pull away. I gotta tell ya, that's a nice way for a mom to start her day, especially when you have a busy toddler that only has time for a 2 second hugs during the day.
Today, he was very cranky upon waking from his nap, which was wrought with coughing and very short. I needed to leave for an interview at 4:00, so daddy was on duty. I was so happy to be leaving the house and getting a break, but there was that little sense of missing my little appendage - whoops, I mean son. I didn't get out of my interview until 6:00 (which meant 2.5 hours away from home and a cranky toddler - yeah me!). I called Todd when I was leaving and learned that it was a rough one at home. Timmy's crankies hadn't subsided, and Todd was going up to give him a bath to take his mind off the crankies. Fine - I got home at the end of the bath. Timmy was sitting on his changing table with a towel wrapped around him and was ecstatic to see me. He laughed and played with me while daddy put his diaper home.
Oh happy day for me! I got 2 "I'm happy to see you mommy!" moments with Timmy in one teeny tiny day. Life is good and my blessings are many.

I love days like this...it doesn't happen too often, so I too cherish them.

Yeah! 2 posts in one day. It's like 2 episodes of my favorite TV show in one day!!!!
