Little Man is driving me nuts today. In addition to sending him to his room twice already (and he's only been awake for 3 hours), I am currently listening to him yell, "Come up here!" over and over again in the monitor - whoops...I shut the monitor off, so now it's just a dull yelling I can hear up the stairs and through his door. I have been faced with back talk and not listening all morning.

This begs the question, should I go back to work after 6 short weeks instead of 12? I can't afford to send him to daycare without me going to work. If I could afford it, his little tushie would be there are least 2-3 days per week.

I can't stand the thought to leaving my little one after 6 weeks, so there must be something I can do to make the situation better.

Edited just 5 minutes after I posted to say he came down, we talked about it. I told him we needed to go the library and he should go to the mud room for shoes. He chose not to listen to me again and said, "no" over and over. So now, he is in his room for the third time this morning.

Sounds familiar. I watched Supernanny and instituted her time-out rules for Peaches. So far, so good!!

It's a tough adjustment. Good luck!!

The daily joys. Ibelieve there is a reason God has made toddlers so cute.

His world has been rocked, and he's letting you know it. Doesn't make it any easier though. I went back to work 6 weeks after I had each of my kids because that's all I got paid for and I couldn't afford otherwise. But the truth? I wasn't terribly sorry. I needed the away time to appreciate my kids more, and my kids needed the structure the routine provided. Which may be another aspect of the problem your having with your son . . . not only is he "playing second fiddle" his routine of daycare has also disapeared.

No one ever promised us Motherhood was easy, and regardless if you go back to work and your son goes back to daycare, there's still going to need to be an adjustment period.

Hang in there!!!
