Thursday 13

13 reasons why having a sick child is difficult (which pretty much sums up my last 4 days)

1) In the beginning, you always hope/assume/operate as it is nothing or something very small that will go away in 24 hours.
2) You don't want to call the doctor right away, lest you be the neurotic over-reactive mother.
3) You call your friends to ask what they would do, lest you be seen as the neurotic over-reactive mother.
4) Watching your little one assume the fetal position and sob is gut wrenching.
5) Holding your little one's weak body is gut wrenching.
6) Finding something he can keep down is like mission impossible.
7) Trying to reason with a toddler on why he can only have 1-2 tblsp of juice at a time, when all he wants is a good solid gulp to quench the terrible thirst he has, is one very difficult power of persuasion to master.
8) Trying to clean vomit from the floor, yourself and child whilst holding sick child requires the arms of an octopus.
9) When blankie gets in the middle of the sick war-zone, the world becomes a very dark place while blankie is having a bath.
10) You would gladly trade places with your child, if only it were possible.
11) Trying to get him to understand that he needs to keep the bowl with him at all times and to try to make it in there, proves to be a difficult concept to grasp.
12) Having both parents around to handle all the little things that aren't easily done with a limp toddler in your arms is not always possible when it happens during the work week.
13) Praying that it will be all gone the moment he wakes from a exhaustion induced nap, but knowing it needs to run its course.

Oh, it's all so awful!! I hate when the kids are sick! It is so hard to watch them go through all that. Hope he's feeling better soon!

#2 is me all the way - I am the epitomy of the nuerotic over-reactive mother...always calling the doc...my reasoning - better to puke on the hospital floor than on mine, LOL!!!!!!
